Yes... I stopped filming and teaching briefly. I will have videos up again, shortly, maybe not as often as I have in the past, but I will get stuff out. As most know, I have moved so am setting up for new filming and lessons. Also, we are having out black belt test in a few days, now, the drum beats are beating in the distance.. haha, but it should be even more high speed then last years, if that is possible.
I am Master Peter Brusso, and I will see you on the web. Also don't forget to visit us at http://www.anjingbanfa.com

Update on Ask Sensei
We have had some very good training lately. However, we have not been able to get everything up on the web, for various reasons.

That being said, we still put up some great lessons.
Everyone should check out our "tomahawk" class as it is unique on the web and in our art. I have not taught this class since 1973 so it is really a great class to view. I also covered how to use
an "E-tool" which is a standard camping tool, all for your self defense. We also had Master Dylan Porter up to train with us and it was fun to see him with the new material! In this particular class we covered the five basic types of strikes with a tomahawk or hatchet and blocks. I showed some various anti grab work as well. This is a must see class for ANY martial artist who is into "real" stuff. We, in America, have camp axes with us most of the time, especially if you are camping, and this is a great lesson on how to use that axe for your self defense.

Next up on the deck, and recent... is my series on how to teach and become a legendary Sensei. This is the type of stuff that you usually don't get in your dojo but for us, its a standard thing we sift into our art. I go behind the scenes with this lesson and tie in the what, why, and how to teach. I used the back drop of white belt techniques to illustrate the "legendary" teaching techniques. Also in this episode I cover how Not to get mugged... the four easy steps. These steps are a must see, again, for real martial artist or those who don't want to get mugged. I will continue this "legendary Sensei" series over the next few episodes so if you know other teachers... get them hooked up with these podcasts...

Knife on Knife training

You should refer over to the Anjing Banfa blog but, we have been very focused on knife on knife fighting lately. The last four videos up on http://asksensei.blip.tv/ all deal with knife on knife or combat machete. Everyone seems to love them! I get a little concerned showing this stuff on the web but at least this stuff won't get you killed! I have seen such garbage on the web when it comes to "real" martial arts and especially knife fighting. So, doing my part to help with the real side, I have started to show more knife on knife fighting techniques. To this end, you can also purchase my knife on knife fighting DVD set (3 DVDs) if you want to learn the whole system. I have been asked about an "instructors" program and I am setting that up. I hope all of you enjoy the lessons on http://asksensei.blip.tv/ and if you have any "requests" I will consider all! So email me at peter@infocard.cc or just off the asksensei site too... let me know what you want to see!

New stats for our weekly lessons
Wow.. I'm blown away! I put up the "weekly lessons" as a way for us to stay connected but I had no idea that it would viral so far, so quick, and so definitive.
Our stats for the last three lessons are:
Weekly Dates
11/11/07 11/18/07 11/25/07 11/30/07
Lesson on 11/11 0 89 123 143
Lesson on 11/18 0 79 98
Lesson on 11/25 17 53
Total Views are 294 with an average of 98!
These are total views of the material as Blip doesn't count the partial view. Complete view means that, from start to credits! So, we have some great stats!
We received requests from Iceland, Washington DC, and Florida. We also got some really nice mail talking about our techniques and videos from, get this: the US ARMY! Actually from "Center for Army Lessons Learned, Actual Operations Branch"... they like our "approach to training"... So we are doing something right... I will have an Army recruiter at our lessons from now on.. haha (not a bad idea)...
So, if anyone has something they want to see.. send it to me: sensei@anjingbanfa.com and I will see if it fits in, and if so, will work on your requests.
Last weeks request came from Iceland and Washington DC, as they asked about snow fighting and improvised weapons... We worked choke cords tied with keys and kitchen implement's. We worked can openers, bottle openers, a spatula, and more showing how they can be used like a Defender. We had some great hillside fighting philosophies and then worked on a combat wrist throw.
We shall see what this week brings but I can make sure you don't miss a Sunday class again.. as it will be up on http://asksensei.blip.tv

Virtual Dojo!
Wow.. Wow.. Wow.. we started our weekly lessons, up on asksensei and we have really seen some great stats!
The way stats work on blip is to count as a "view" they have to watch or listen to the ENTIRE podcast, that is from start to end credits. As of this moment, the 11-11-07 stats are 114 views, and 11-18-07 is at 53 views! Those are wild stats!!!!
Barny, one of my students and our cherished "combat chef"... said that he thought we would make a great "reality" show. He may have been right. We have had people commenting on the lessons, and actually suggesting topics they would like to see.
We had Internet requests from Florida and even Iceland! We also got some great feed back on our brand of martial arts from the US Army! So, I think we are doing something right.
We now have a virtual dojo, as I would see it. All those who want to have topics discussed on our show, just email me at sensei@anjingbanfa.com and I will pick those topics that fit the lessons of the week.

A new intervew with Master Mel LaGasca
Master Mel and I go back in time to 1980-1982 and the formation of Anjing Banfa. In this interview you will hear about some famous episodes of Anjing Banfa history, some really funny stories, and how we honor as our dead. Learn about Cal Feamster and how he studied with us and our early times at LLNL. Enjoy!
